Support Groups at HAVEN

Support groups are offered for community and shelter survivors. Please call an advocate for more information.

Every 1st Monday

Kid's Craft Night at HAVEN

4:30 P.M. – 5:30 P.M.

Our monthly support group for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault combines therapeutic activities with opportunities for connection. Each session may include games, art, mindfulness, storytelling, or guided discussion, offering multiple ways to process experiences and build resilience.

Children are welcome to attend with a parent or caregiver. Depending on the activity, children may participate directly alongside adults or engage in parallel activities that align with the same themes, creating opportunities for family healing and shared growth.

Benefits of this group include:

  • Provides a safe, supportive environment for survivors to connect and heal in different ways
  • Offers both structured and creative outlets for self-expression and stress relief
  • Encourages family participation and shared learning experiences
  • Builds community and reduces isolation through positive interaction

Every 3rd Monday

Therapy Dog & Family Night at HAVEN

4:30 P.M. – 5:30 P.M.

Our monthly therapy dog group provides families in shelter and in our community programs with a safe, calming, and positive environment to reconnect and heal together.

Spending time with therapy dogs offers emotional support, lowers stress, and helps children and parents build trust and resilience after trauma.

Benefits of this group include:

  • Reducing stress and anxiety for survivors of domestic violence
  • Promoting emotional bonding between children and caregivers in a safe, joyful setting
  • Creating positive memories that help counterbalance traumatic experiences
  • Encouraging participation in services through a fun, non-threatening entry point for youth and families

Every 4th Thursday

Al-Anon at HAVEN

7:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M.

Al-Anon is a mutual support program for people affected by someone else's alcohol use, including individuals in recovery who grew up in homes impacted by alcoholism or substance misuse.

Meetings provide a safe, confidential, and nonjudgmental space to process past experiences, build healthier relationships, and connect with others who understand the long-term effects of growing up around addiction.

Benefits of attending Al-Anon groups include:

  • Reducing feelings of isolation by connecting with others who share similar experiences
  • Learning healthy coping strategies and boundaries
  • Gaining emotional support in a safe, nonjudgmental environment
  • Improving self-care, communication, and stress management skills
  • Building resilience, hope, and a stronger sense of personal well-being
  • Supporting healing for individuals and families impacted by substance use and interpersonal conflict
